🕊️ RIP Pope Francis⁠

We here at IPA mourn the passing of our beloved Pope. Below are a few words from our Executive Director, Jessica Dewhurst:⁠

Dear friends,⁠

Like many of you, I have just heard the heartbreaking news of Pope Francis's passing. 💔 It is difficult to find the words to express the sorrow that so many of us are feeling. The world has lost a remarkable and courageous shepherd—one whose life was a powerful testament to humility, compassion, and unwavering service to the most vulnerable.⁠

⁠Pope Francis never shied away from standing alongside the poor, the oppressed, and the forgotten. ✊🏽 He reminded us, through word and deed, that our faith must be lived out in acts of justice, mercy, and radical love. 💒💖 His voice—so often a lone one on the global stage—challenged power, comforted the broken, and called each of us to see Christ in the margins.⁠

Most recently, his courageous stand against the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people 🇵🇸 reflected his deep and unshakeable belief in the dignity of all human life, no matter how contested or inconvenient that truth may be.⁠

⁠Let us honour his legacy not only with words but also with action. 🙌 May we carry forward his mission with courage and tenderness—standing with the poor, speaking truth to power, and never forgetting the sacredness of each life we encounter.⁠

⁠May his soul rest in the eternal peace he so often gave to others. 🕊️ And may we, as a community, continue to walk the path he so bravely illuminated for us.⁠
